The project has received four environmental awards including the Urban Development Institute’s Sustainable Design Award.

The Cornerstone employs energy features such as geothermal heating and cooling, water conserving appliances, a ventilation system which recovers heat from building exhaust, and a green roof. The Cornerstone building is built to LEED Silver standard.

The apartments in the Cornerstone are mainly one and two bedroom suites with some ‘flex’ units. The flex units have been designed with students in mind; they have one bedroom plus a den that can serve as a second bedroom for a roommate.

The Cornerstone is adjacent to a bus transit loop, an extensive pedestrian and bike-path system and is in walking distance to a local elementary school, community centre and proposed neighbourhood park.
