Heather Place Progress Update – South Building

Vancouver Affordable Rental Housing Residential

The Heather Place excavation is ongoing while retaining walls are being formed. The parking level is underway, next steps being the slab-on-grade. This building will have 1 level of parking for residents.

The MVHC Heather Place property is a 2.009 acre site (87,534 sq.ft.). It is bounded to the north and south by West 13th and 14th Avenues and Heather and Willow Streets from east to west. An east-west lane bisects the site. The complex takes up almost an entire city block with the exception of a 100ft x 125ft parcel in the southeast corner.

A socially and environmentally sustainable rental community of 230 units will serve a diverse mix of families, seniors, couples, urban singles and people with disabilities across a mixed range of incomes.

The redevelopment has three buildings; 5-storey, 6-storey and 10-storey. Residents will have a common amenity space, community garden plots, urban orchard, “bike hub room” and a public Bike Stop Station, and children’s outdoor play areas to support a vibrant and interconnected community.

Many of the existing mature trees on site will be retained and complimented with additional trees. The landscape design is intended to enhance neighbourhood greening and to provide opportunities for access to nature in the form of open spaces, an urban forest, and programmed common outdoor amenities.
