The V-shape 6-storey wood-frame building lies on a single-level concrete raft slab parking structure due to the site’s proximity to adjacent Hoy Creek. The two wings along the site respond to the general massing context of apartments in the neighbourhood, while seeking to differentiate from the traditional forms by being more contemporary. The building form maintains a simple, minimalist and honest expression while using balconies and vertical elements to articulate the character.
This 132-unit family-oriented housing project provides nearly 1,500 sq.ft. of amenity space on level 1 which is connected to the west facing terrace and Hoy Creek pathway. The co-op units have generous outdoor spaces in the form of decks, and/or balconies. Furthermore, the project includes an on-site outdoor play area for children, and a common deck on the second level that incorporates urban agriculture, promoting a sense of community and sustainability.
